PENTHOUSE TOWN CENTRE APARTMENT
Bulgaria is an up and coming holiday destination. There are direct flights to the Black Sea Coast from several locations in England and Europe, including Gatwick. Flights take just 3 hours and prices are becoming ever more competitive. The Bulgarian people are extremely helpful and friendly, many of them speak excellent English. It is very cheap to eat out in Bulgaria - A meal for 2 with wine in very pleasant surroundings can cost as little as £10.
At present Bulgaria is a cash based society, with few opportunities for using credit cards. The currency is the lev or leva. This can be purchased in advance in England, but outlets usually require a few days notice.
The Black Sea coast of Bulgaria offers, clear water, healthy air, miles of fine golden sands and mineral water springs. Average air temperature in the summer is 28C, water temperature 25C. There are more than 240 hours sunshine in May and September, 300 hours + in July and August. October can also be pleasantly warm.
Varna is the largest city on the Black Sea Coast and has quite a cosmopolitan feel. It offers good shopping, entertainment, historical sites, museums as well as unspoilt, sandy beaches and beach side cafes. It is also a good base for exploring many nearby resorts, Albena ( with water sports), the spa resorts of St. Konstantin and Elena , Golden Sands and the botanical gardens at Balchik.
If you hire a car, (Hertz /Avis at the airport or Vendor in the foyer of the Cherno More Hotel) you will find charming “alpine” type villages in the mountains behind Varna and some breathtaking views on the coastal road both North and South of Varna. At present there is no dedicated tourist information office in Varna, but there are two travel agencies in the foyer of the Cherno More Hotel, which can book organised tours and bus tickets and answer general questions.
